Lowboy Driver

General Contractor in heavy highway construction has an immediate need for a Lowboy driver. As part of the support team for our crews, drivers will be responsible for loading, hauling and delivering equipment and materials to and from our construction office yard and job sites in a timely and safe manner following all federal and state laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience in Lowboys with knowledge of loading and unloading equipment and materials to and from construction projects and location.
  • Commitment to follow all safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment for themselves and coworkers, as well as the public.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Follow directions of supervisor/dispatcher as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 1-year experience in Lowboy operations.
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission.
  • Must have a valid class A CDL Driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records check with no DUIs within past five years.
  • All driver positions are contingent upon passing a background check and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to successfully pass random drug/alcohol testing (DOT).
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, as well as overtime as required.

Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience
  • Ability to work on Mack Tractors, Semi-Dump Trailers, and Ford Products

  • Work with the entire preconstruction team in various capacities.
  • Accurately estimate projects from conceptual through construction document phases.
  • Present Value Engineering ideas when required.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, owners, and consultants.
  • Interpret and accurately compare contractor proposals.
  • Prepare quantity surveys for most construction trade work.
  • Assist in maintaining historical cost database and as well as subcontractor database.
  • Negotiate, award and write subcontracts.
  • Accurately estimate general condition costs as well as preliminary scheduling.
  • Ensure that project activities are carried out on-time, and within budget while complying with Federal, State and Local regulations and/ore policies.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Construction Management preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and processes.
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively present detailed information in meetings.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
  • Ability to read blueprints and project scheduling.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency in MS Office Suites and ability to adapt to new innovations and processes such as HCSS Heavy Bid
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to communicate verbal and written with municipal officials, subcontractors and engineers.

Work Environment:

This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience working around heavy industrial equipment. You may be subject to, but not limited to, lifting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, walking and sedentary work.
